Great cruiser ... Black exterior ... Tan interior ... Upgraded and reliable powertrain ... Powerful and comfortable ... Summer road-trip ready ...
Looking for a great cruiser for summer road trips that will carry you in comfort and style? This gorgeous 1951 Hudson Hornet combines the best of both worlds with its stock looks and upgraded and powerful modern powertrain.
This car’s Black finish is the perfect canvas for its abundant chrome and brightwork. The exterior contrasts nicely with its Tan interior. The Art Deco dash board and instrumentation are in very good condition with styling that is like a work of art. The seating areas have been reupholstered and are very comfortable, and the interior is capacious. The front and rear vent windows will keep you cool, even on the hottest of days. You will also appreciate its working AM radio.
Under the hood is a Rochester 4 barrel carbureted Chevy 350 CID V-8 and a TH475 three speed automatic transmission that came from a 1972 motorhome with only 33,000 miles. Given its original use, the engine features an upgraded motorhome cam and provides amazing torque. The rear end is a 3.07 Spicer that easily hums along on the interstate at 80 MPH. Don’t be deceived by the proportions of this car—with this powertrain, it is quick, powerful, and best of all—reliable. It can be easily serviced by any mechanic with parts that are readily available.
More recent mechanical updates include the following:
A few items of note are that all gauges work (including the clock), but the speedometer takes a moment to register after pulling off from a stop. In addition, the interior exhibits some wear, and the older paint and chrome are of driver quality with some imperfections.
The most recent owner has enjoyed this car for the past 21 years, having taken it on several multi-state road trips with great pleasure. It has always been properly stored indoors, and is ready for its next owner.
If a beautifully styled early 50s cruiser with the styling of yesterday and the reliability of today is what you desire, you will love this 1951 Hudson Hornet.
