Classic Car Facts

Chrysler’s New Yorker was the longest running nameplate in American history.  As Chrysler’s flagship model, it was synonymous with quality engineering and upscale luxury.  If these qualities appeal to you, you will love this gorgeous 1948 Chrysler New Yorker Club Coupe. One of just 10,750 club coupes produced from 1946-1949, this rare Chrysler will carry you in comfort and style.

Finished in Meadow Green, this car’s finish has a beautiful luster.  Its finish is further accentuated by an abundance of chrome and brightwork that that gives it a timeless appeal, including its signature “harmonica” grille.  Dual spotlights and mirrors and brand-new Coker whitewall tires lend a fresh appearance.

The newly reupholstered interior is also in excellent condition, including its high-quality Beige leather seating areas that have been finished in the original sew patterns.  The interior door panels, carpeting, and headliner have also been newly redone.  The commanding steering wheel and impressive chrome-adorned instrument panel lend a quality and luxurious air.  Other features you’ll appreciate are its 2-speed electric windshield wipers, dual heaters, AM radio, turn signals, rear back-up light and auxiliary temperature gauge.

Under the hood is a 323.5 CID valve-in-hear L head straight eight, which is mated to a fluid drive transmission.  Other recent mechanical updates include the following:

  • Aluminized exhaust system
  • Brake shoes, cylinders and actuators
  • Master cylinder
  • Water pump with anti-friction bearings
  • Electronic ignition
  • Front & rear heavy-duty shocks
  • Upper control arms
  • Re-arched rear springs
  • Halogen headlamps

This Chysler runs and drives as well as it looks.

A few items of note are that minor imperfections in the finish and chrome do not detract from the overall appearance of the car.  In addition, the odometer and clock are not currently functioning.  The odometer shows 76,500 miles, which is reflected as actual mileage on the clean Ohio title, but total mileage is unknown.

If a rare and distinctive cruiser that you can get in and enjoy is what you desire, this 1948 Chrysler New Yorker Club Coupe is the one for you!
