Classic Car Facts

From 1947 to 1955, Chevrolet trucks were first in sales in the United States, and it was not without reason.  Part of Chevrolet’s “Advanced Design” series, they represented the first major redesign after World War II.  Young American soldiers were returning home eager to get back to work, and the new Chevrolet trucks were just the thing to help them do it.

This gorgeous 1949 Chevrolet 3100 benefits from a tasteful customization and features many performance enhancements that will appeal to today’s drivers.  Its Onyx Black finish has a mirror like luster that is further accentuated by custom hand-painted Red and White pinstriping.  Adding to its fresh appearance are its re-chromed front and rear bumpers and refinished solid oak bedTinted glass, dummy spotlights, and a custom tonneau cover add plenty of additional pop.

This pickup’s custom interior is equally eye-catching, featuring seats professionally upholstered in soft Black and Red leather.  A removable center console provides a convenient place for beverages and other sundries.  The classic Chevy “bowtie” adorns the interior door panels, seatbacks and center console.  Its original gauges and instrumentation are supplemented by a Sunpro tach and temperature gauge.  You’ll also appreciate this pickup’s tilt steering column, enabling drivers of all statures to get comfortable behind the wheel.

Under the hood you will find a heavily chromed and customized bored over 235 CID inline six mated to a T5 5-speed manual transmission.  The open driveshaft provides power to rear-end, which was sourced from a 1957 Chevy truck.  Its front power disc brakes will provide you with plenty of confidence on the road.  Other performance upgrades include the following:

  • Lowered Mustang II front-end
  • Front coilovers
  • Rear leaf springs & shocks
  • Aluminum radiator
  • Electric fan
  • Bed-mounted auxiliary fuel tank
  • 2 batteries—6-volt and 12-volt for starter
  • Dual exhaust system
  • MSD electronic ignition
  • Racing pistons
  • Hardened valve seals

Best of all, this pickup runs and drives as well as it looks.

If a classic pickup with an undeniably cool vibe is what you desire, this 1949 Chevy 3100 is the one for you!
