Ford’s 1949 Custom Sedan was completely new from stern to helm, and it did not go without notice. Named “The Car of the Year,” it combined several styling and engineering innovations that proved popular with American buyers.
If you’re looking for a cruiser with plenty of eye appeal that is ready to enjoy, look no further than this gorgeous 1949 Ford Custom. Finished in Dark Blue Metallic, this car’s fresh finish has a beautiful luster that is further enhanced by an abundance of chrome and brightwork that is in excellent condition. From its distinctive hood ornament to its chrome-tipped dual exhaust, this car shines!
Its beautiful exterior color is echoed in the car’s newly completed interior, which is finished in a handsome two-tone gray tweed and blue check pattern. The door panels, carpeting, and headliner were also recently completed, and show very nicely. The steering wheel and “Flight Panel” dash board are also in excellent condition.
Under the hood you will find the original 239 CID Flathead V-8 mated to a 3-speed manual transmission. Both the engine and transmission were recently rebuilt. Other mechanical improvements made when the car was professionally restored in 2011 include new brakes, brake lines, and tires. Its dual exhaust system features glass packs that give the car a nice rumble. Best of all, this Custom runs and drives as well as it looks.
One item of note is that the radio is not currently functioning. In addition, minor imperfections in the finish do not detract from the overall appearance of this car. All receipts from the restoration will be provided to the next owner of this car.
