What is it about classic pickup trucks that makes them so appealing?  Is it their unpretentious styling, their rugged and reliable powertrains, or simply their ability to go where cars can’t go, to do what cars can’t do?  Exemplifying all of these qualities, Chevrolet’s Task Force Trucks offered from 1955 – 1959 are as American as apple pie.

This gorgeous 1956 Chevrolet 3100 step side pickup truck is finished in recent Pewter Metallic base coat/clear coat and features a stainless steel diamond plate bed.  Its original bench seat has been reupholstered in attractive black cloth, and the interior also benefits from newer black carpeting.  You will also appreciate this truck’s optional wrap-around rear windowtilt steering wheel, and in-glove box Kenwood AM/FM stereo with CD player.

Under the hood is a 350 CID V-8 that was pulled from a 1990 Chevrolet conversion van with 66,000 original miles.  The engine is mated to a TH350 automatic transmission with a 3.56 rear end.  Other mechanical upgrades include power steering , front disc brakesdual master cylinderSummit intakeHolley 4-barrel carburetorelectric fuel pump, and dual exhaust.  In addition, a new gas tank has been fitted below the bed.  This truck runs and drives as well as it looks.

A few items of note are that the gas gauge is not accurate, and total mileage is unknown, although the truck has only been driven approximately 2,100 miles since its frame-off restoration.  In addition, minor imperfections in the finish do not detract from the overall appearance of this truck.

The most recent owner of this truck purchased it approximately eight years ago and undertook its frame-off restoration, which was completed approximately three years ago.  A photograph album documenting its restoration will be included with sale.  Since being completed, the truck has always been properly stored indoors.

If a fully restored Task Force truck with plenty of eye appeal is what you desire, this 1956 Chevrolet 3100 is for you.
