Classic Car Facts

Twilight Turquoise & India Ivory exterior & interior … 327 CID V-8 … TH 350 automatic transmission … Dual exhaust … Fully restored …

Beloved by collectors all the world over are Chevrolet’s “Tri-5” models produced from 1955-1957.  With attractive styling that was unique each of these years, they offered an abundance of eye-catching color combinations and trim levels that proved popular with American buyers.  One such model was the Del Ray, which offered a unique color-keyed interior and other upgrades.

This lovely 1956 Del Ray Club Coupe is finished in its original colors of Twilight Turquoise and India Ivory.  Its newer finish has a beautiful luster that is further accentuated by an abundance of chrome and other brightwork that is in excellent condition.  As part of its body-off restoration, this rust-free California car was stripped down to bare metal prior to a laser straight application of PPG basecoat/clearcoat.  In addition, each piece of stainless steel trim was removed and professionally polished when this car was restored, resulting in a finished product that appears new.  Cragar chrome wheels complete the look.

Its striking exterior colors are also echoed in its Turquoise and Ivory reproduction interior, which is in very good condition.  The seating areas, interior door panels, and dash board show very well.  You will also appreciate its AM/FM stereo radio with cassette.

Under the hood is a 327 CID V-8 from a 1965 Corvette that is mated to a TH 350 three speed automatic transmission.  Other performance upgrades include an Edelbrock 650 4 barrel carburetor and dual exhaust.  This Del Ray also benefits from a newer alternatortiresrear leaf springs, and front ball joints and tie rods.  Best of all, it runs and drives as well as it looks.

One item of note is that the speedometer and odometer are not currently working.  Total mileage is not known, but mileage since the body-off restoration was completed is under 5,000.  In addition, its electric fan is not currently connected, as auxiliary cooling has never been necessary.

This Del Ray’s most recent owner has owned it since 1996 and it has received the best of care, always properly stored indoors and only used for pleasure drives on nice days.

If a stunning “Tri-5” Chevy in an eye-catching color combination is what you desire, this 1956 Del Ray Club Coupe is for you!
