Classic Car Facts

The Lincoln Premiere was a car of beauty.  The top of the Lincoln line upon its 1956 introduction, it was long, low, and luxurious.  With a powerful new engine and elegant appointments, Lincoln boasted that its 1956 cars were “unmistakably … the finest in the fine car field.”

This stunning 1956 Lincoln Premiere hardtop coupe is finished in Presidential Black.  Its finish has a beautiful luster that further accentuates its chrome and brightwork that it wears like fine jewelry.  The chrome on this Lincoln is in excellent condition, having benefited from more recent re-chroming.  Its gold-anodized badging and ornamentation provide additional distinction.  Elegant rear “bumperettes” below the rear tail lamps neatly house its dual exhaust systemRoad lamps, fender skirts, bright wheel covers, and newer Diamond Back wide whitewall radial tires add to this Premier’s refined look.  Without a doubt, this car has presence.

The original interior of this car is equally striking, featuring Black Lurex tweed with inter-woven metallic threads and contrasting Red leather seating areas.  An impressive and commanding dash board features a multitude of recessed gauges and warning lights that will keep you informed about what’s going on under the hood.  You’ll also appreciate the convenience of its working clock, power windows, power seat, and AM radio.  All power options work as they should, with the exception of the power antenna.

Under the hood you will find a powerful 368 CID V-8 mated to a Lincoln “Turbo-Drive” automatic transmission—a powerhouse that generates an impressive 285 horsepower and 401 ft-lb of torque.  Both the engine and transmission were professionally rebuilt, and the car runs and drives beautifully.  Its power steering and power brakes will keep you firmly in control at the helm.  Other mechanical updates include the following:

  • Completely rebuilt front stock suspension (control arm bushings, ball joints, inner & outer tie rod ends, sway bar links, suspension bumpers, shocks, front axle seals)
  • Front-end alignment
  • Rebuilt power brake booster & master cylinder
  • New front & rear wheel cylinders & brake hoses
  • New fuel pump
  • Rebuilt power steering gear box
  • Rebuilt power steering pump
  • Rebuilt generator
  • New dual exhaust
  • New Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor
  • Auxiliary pusher fan

Showing 63,900 miles on the odometer, the clear Ohio title reflects the mileage as actual.

This Premiere has been owned and enjoyed by its most recent owner for over 23 years and has been properly stored in a heated building during his ownership.  Extensive and meticulous records and receipts of all work done will be provided to the next owner of this car.  The original owner’s manual and other marketing materials will also be included with sale.

Minor imperfections in the finish do not detract from the overall appearance of this car.

If a truly striking and seldom-seen mid-1950s luxury car in an eye-catching color combination is what you desire, this 1956 Lincoln Premiere is the one for you!
