Classic Car Facts

“If it’s full-view beauty and true-blue value you want … get out of the ordinary and into an Olds!”

These are the words with which Oldsmobile lured buyers into its showrooms in 1956.  With “Rocket” styling and power, and color and trim combinations that allowed for an endless array of personalization, the 1956 Oldsmobiles were popular with American consumers for good reason.

This stunning 1956 Oldsmobile 88 Holiday Hardtop Coupe is finished in an eye-catching color combination of Ice Green and Tropical Green Metallic and has only 63,000 original miles.  Its gorgeous 2-tone color scheme is further enhanced by an abundance of chrome and brightwork that is in excellent condition—from its rechromed front and rear bumpers down to its polished hub cabs and new headlamp bezels.  More recently repainted, its finish has an absolutely beautiful luster that is deep and luminous.  New Goodyear Diamond Back whitewall radial tires and chrome dual exhaust tips add additional pop.

The interior is equally pleasing, featuring vinyl seats in Dark Green and White which echo its showy exterior colors.  An impressive and commanding dash board features a multitude of chrome-recessed gauges and instrumentation that are in excellent condition.  You’ll also appreciate its accurately functioning clock which has been updated with modern mechanicals.  This Olds also features a power antenna.

Under the hood you will find a beautifully detailed engine compartment featuring a Rocket 324 CID V-8 engine mated to a “Jetaway” Hydro-matic automatic transmission.  Both the engine and transmission were recently rebuilt.  Other more recent mechanical updates include the following:

  • New front shocks & springs
  • New generator
  • New electric windshield wiper motor
  • New 4-barrel carburetor
  • Rebuilt radiator

This Olds runs and drives as well as it looks.

One item of note is that the heater in the car is operated by a modern bypass switch located to the left of the steering column.  Also located there is a switch for an electric fuel pump that makes cold startups a breeze.  Included with sale is a set of skirts, as well as a 1956 Oldsmobile Shop Manual.

Owned and cherished by its most recent owner since 1997, this former Oklahoma and California car has won numerous awards at shows through the years, and is ready to be enjoyed by its next owner.

If a beautifully running and driving 1950s classic with plenty of eye appeal is what you desire, look no further than this extraordinary 1956 Oldsmobile 88 Holiday Hardtop Coupe!
