Classic Car Facts

56,000 original miles … Lustrous Gold exterior … White convertible top … Black and White interior … Power Seat … Dual exhaust …

In 1958, after producing two-passenger Thunderbirds for the last three years, Ford Motor Company nodded to consumers who desired the rakish good looks that had come to be associated with Thunderbirds, but who desired the roominess of a four-passenger car.  The result was the stunning 1958 Thunderbird—“America’s most wanted, most admired car.”

One look at this beautiful Thunderbird convertible will convince you why it was so popular in its day, and why it continues to excite collectors today.  From its long, low lines that sweep into its interior, to its center console and bucket seats, this car was the premier “personal luxury” car, and defined an entire class of cars that existed for decades.  Originally White, this stunning example is now finished in a lustrous basecoat/clearcoat Gold metallic finish that contrasts nicely with its newer White convertible top.  The original vinyl interior is finished in Black and White.  Tasteful use of interior and exterior chrome and bright-work complete the package.

Having approximately 56,000 original miles, this car’s 300 HP 352 CID V-8 engine and three-speed “Cruise-O-Matic” automatic transmission were rebuilt less than 1,000 miles ago.  Other mechanical updates include the following:

  • Water pump (replaced with NOS unit)
  • Fuel pump (replaced with NOS unit)
  • Rebuilt generator
  • Rebuilt starter
  • Rebuilt carburetor
  • Oil pressure sending unit
  • Fuel sending unit
  • Universal joints
  • Mufflers
  • Shocks and coil springs
  • Brakes
  • Tires
  • Battery

In addition to these mechanical updates, you will also appreciate this car’s optional comfort and convenience features, including power steering, power brakes, 4-way power driver’s seat, driver’s side mirror/spotlight, “I-Rest” tinted glass, factory floor mats, AM radio and antenna, and working electric clock.  All of these items work as they should, with the exception of the AM radio, which can sometimes be temperamental.

A few other items of note are that there are some minor imperfections in the finish and chrome that do not detract from the overall appearance of the car.  Additionally, although the heater fan works, the heater core has been bypassed, enabling only cool air to be furnished to the passenger cabin.

Originally an Arizona car, this car has been owned and enjoyed as a summer pleasure cruiser for the last seven years, and has always been properly stored indoors and maintained.

Make today the day to begin enjoying this beautiful and desirable Thunderbird!
