Classic Car Facts

Cool custom … Arctic White exterior … American Racing wheels … Trunk amp sound system … 401 CID Nailhead V-8 … Dual quads … Flowmaster exhaust …

If you’re looking for a high impact classic with the added distinction of rarity, you’ve found it!  In addition to an eye catching custom look, this stunning 1961 Buick Invicta Custom is one of only 6,382 hardtop coupes produced in 1961.  Taken in the context of 1961 Chevrolet Bel Air and Impala sport coupe production of 177,969, this Invicta’s rarity can truly be appreciated.

Finished in Arctic White, this car’s finish has a beautiful luster that is further accentuated by an abundance of chrome that shows beautifully.  Chrome side pipes17” American Racing wheels, and a fully adjustable air suspension complete the look.

Custom touches are also apparent inside the car, including a matching vinyl interior that is in excellent condition.  The door panels, dash board, headliner, and carpeting are all in very good condition, and show only minimal wear.  In addition to comfortable seats, you will also appreciate this cruiser’s power steering and power brakes.  A full array of Auto Gage gauges, including amperage, water temperature, oil pressure and tachometer will keep you informed.  In addition, its Pioneer AM/FM stereo with CD player and trunk-mounted Lanzar 500 watt power amplifier contribute to a very satisfying cruising experience.

Under the hood you will find a 401 CID Nailhead V-8 mated to a TH 350 three speed automatic transmission.  Both the engine and transmission were recently rebuilt and have less than 6,000 miles, and this cruiser runs and drives as well as it looks.  The engine features hardened valve seats, making the use of leaded gas unnecessary.  Other performance enhancements and mechanical updates include the following:

  • Offenhauser valve covers
  • Edelbrock 500 dual quad carbs
  • MSD ignition
  • Be Cool radiator
  • Chrome water pump
  • Firestone Ride-Rite adjustable air suspension
  • New lifters
  • New timing cover
  • New brake lines
  • New fuel lines
  • Newer alternator
  • Newer battery
  • Newer tires
  • Newer Flowmaster exhaust
  • Front disc brakes with drilled rotors

The exhaust can be directed by dash switch through the side pipes for more of a rumble, or through the full dual exhaust system for more of a subdued exhaust note.  In addition, the air suspension can be quickly raised or lowered by dash switch as well.

Minor imperfections in the finish and interior and exterior chrome do not detract from the overall appearance of this car.

If a truly unique custom in a low production model is what you desire, this 1961 Buick Invicta is for you!
