RARE Sprint 4-speed Convertible … One Owner Last 37 Years!

Throughout the 1960s, Ford’s compact-sized Falcon offered buyers several options.  From the thrifty “Mileage Maker” six grocery getter to the more peppy 260, whatever your need, Falcon had an answer.  Of the performance-oriented persuasion is this sporty, ultra-rare 1963 Falcon Sprint Convertible.  The precursor to the 1964 Mustang, just 4,602 1963 Sprints were produced.

This lovingly cared for and maintained Sprint has been owned by its most recent owner for the past 37 years.  Refinished in its original Rangoon Red, its finish has a beautiful luster.  Its white convertible top is in excellent condition, as are its chrome and bright-work.  Bright spear-like fender moldings, a chrome plated hood scoop, and front fender “gun sights” offer plenty of pop.   Wire wheel covers with knock off spinners complete the look.

This Falcon’s interior is equally sporty, featuring pleated black bucket seats and a center console.  The dash board is in very good condition, as are the door panels and carpeting.  Its handsome instrument has a sporty look and features a Sprint exclusive—a dash-mounted tachometer—perfect for keeping you informed about what’s going on under the hood without taking your eyes off of the road.  You’ll also appreciate the convenience of its power convertible top and AM radio.

Under the hood you will find a heavily chromed engine compartment—another Sprint exclusive.  Powering this light-on-its-feet Sprint is a 260 CID V-8 mated to an optional 4-speed manual transmission.  Generating 164 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, its light body and frame and 3.25:1 final drive ratio make for lively performance.  The front suspension provides the stability of wishbones and coil springs, telescopic shock absorbers and an anti-roll bar.  The rear suspension provides for semi-elliptic leaf springs and telescopic shock absorbers that will keep you firmly in control at the helm.  Benefiting from a brand-new battery and radial tires, this Sprint runs and drives as well as it looks.

Originally from South Carolina, this Sprint has always been kept indoors and never driven in a northern winter.  Its 35,300 miles are reflected as actual on its clear Ohio title, but total mileage is unknown.

Lovers of originality will appreciate its original owner’s manual and several period magazine articles featuring the 1963 Sprint that have been collected by the owner over the last 37 years, including a vintage June 1963 Car and Driver magazine.  In addition, the original shifter will be included with sale.

If a great looking and ultra-rare Falcon is what you desire, what better way to celebrate the “Jubilee” anniversary of the Falcon with this sporty Sprint convertible?
