Rare California black plate coupe … Lustrous light beige exterior with coordinating interior … 330 HP 394 cubic inch V8 … 70,000 Miles

Please take advantage of this opportunity to purchase this beautifully maintained 1963 Oldsmobile Super 88 Holiday hardtop coupe.  Although over 25,000 Super 88 hardtop sedans were produced in 1963, fewer than 9,000 hardtop coupes were produced, making this car quite rare.  Additionally, Super 88 hardtop coupes were discontinued after 1963, increasing the desirability of this car.

Originally a California black plate car, this classic spent its life out west until being brought to Ohio in 2009, and has always been kept indoors.  Finished in light beige with a coordinating interior, this car’s clean lines and understated trim are the epitome of mid-1960s Detroit styling.  The scratch- and dent-free paint has an absolutely brilliant luster, which is further enhanced by this car’s abundance of chrome and bright-work that is in excellent condition, given the car’s western heritage.

With only 70,000 original miles, the car’s 330 horsepower 394 cubic inch 4-barrel carbureted V8 has power to spare.  The car runs and drives very well and its dual exhaust system adds a satisfying rumble to the driving experience.  The car’s undercarriage is very clean, as shown in the photographs.  In addition, the engine compartment is clean and shows well.

A few items of note are that there is some minor discoloration of the trunk lining and rear package tray.  The “Holiday” chrome script on the rear sail panels is currently off of the car, but the script for one side will be included with sale.  In addition, there is some minor surface rust at the bottom inside edges of the doors, but these areas are very solid.  This is the only area where surface rust was detected.  Although there is some minor wear on the front seats and carpeting, the dashboard and door panels are in excellent condition and the interior shows very well.  A few yards of matching vinyl upholstery material are also included with sale.  As can be noted, a Blaupunkt CD player and rear speakers have been added which offer excellent sound quality; it is unknown whether the original AM radio currently works.

This car was originally purchased new by a California couple for the wife’s use.  The husband originally intended to buy a Buick, but his wife felt that the Buick was too big for her to drive comfortably.  Ironically, the Oldsmobile appeared smaller to her, so that’s what they drove home in 1963.  After driving the car for many years, the lady gave the car to her nephew for his use when she was no longer able to drive.  The nephew subsequently sold the car to the most recent owner.

Make today the day to begin the next chapter of this classically styled car’s history!
