Classic Car Facts

Chevrolet’s Corvair was very avant-guard for its time.  Introduced in 1960, it was the only US-built air-cooled rear-engine car.  By 1964, its engineering had been refined, and what remained was a very spritely, well handling, and stylish little car.

This gorgeous 1964 Corvair Monza Convertible is finished in its original color of Ember Red.  Its newer white convertible top is in excellent condition, as are its chrome and bright-work.  Bright rocker panel moldings, wheel well moldings, and a rear engine grille offer plenty of pop.  You’ll also appreciate its optional passenger side mirror and front and rear chrome bumper guards.  A chrome tail pipe, deluxe wheel covers and white wall tires complete the package.

This Corvair’s interior is equally sporty, featuring black bucket seats, deep-twist carpeting, and map pockets.  The dash board is fully cushioned and in excellent condition, as are the door panels and carpeting.  Its instrument panel is clean an uncluttered, and features a chrome horn ring and Delco AM radio.  The interior brightwork contrasts nicely with its black interior.

Under the hood you will find a 164 CID air-cooled aluminum flat-six engine mated to a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission.  Its two carburetors have been recently tuned, and the car runs and drives as well as it looks, having just completed a 400-mile road trip without issue.  Its “Quadri-Flex” 4-wheel independent suspension will keep you firmly planted on the road on those twisty two lanes, and its open air motoring will afford you a very pleasing driving experience.

Minor imperfections in the paint, chrome and glass do not detract from the overall appearance of this car.  In addition, the speedometer has a tendency to “float,” and the heater and odometer are not currently functioning.  Total mileage is unknown.

Included with sale is the paperwork consisting of the Owner’s Guide, Owner Protection Plan, Custom Feature Accessories Booklets, Seat Belt Instructions, and Convertible Top Operation and Care Manual.  Also included is the original convertible top boot, which is in very good condition.

If a great looking and fun to drive cruiser that is ready to enjoy is what you desire, this sporty Corvair convertible is the car for you!
