Classic Car Facts

Chevrolet’s Corvair was very avant-guard for its time.  Introduced in 1960, it was the only US-built air-cooled rear-engine car.  By 1964, its engineering had been refined, and what remained was a very spritely, well handling, and stylish little car.

This gorgeous 1964 Corvair Monza Spyder Convertible is finished in its original color of Ember Red.  Its new white convertible top provides a nice contrast, as does its chrome and bright-work.  Bright rocker panel moldings, wheel well moldings, and a rear engine grille offer plenty of pop.  You’ll also appreciate its optional passenger side mirror, chrome tail pipe, deluxe wire wheel covers and white wall tires.

This Corvair’s original interior is equally sporty, featuring black bucket seats, deep-twist carpeting, and map pockets.  The dash board is fully cushioned and in excellent condition, as are the door panels and carpeting.  Its instrument panel is clean and uncluttered, featuring a wooden steering wheel and a full complement of factory gauges, including a tachometer. A Delco AM radio will have you believing it’s 1964 again.

Under the hood you will find a 150-horsepower turbocharged 164 CID air-cooled aluminum flat-six engine mated to a four-speed manual transmission.  Its “Quadri-Flex” 4-wheel independent suspension will keep you firmly planted on the road on those twisty two lanes, and its open-air motoring will afford you a very pleasing driving experience.  Having just 67,000 original miles, this Corvair runs and drives as well as it looks.

Originally sold from Lownsbury Chevrolet Co. of Toledo, Ohio, this car comes with full documentation of all previous owners since new.  Also included with sale are much of the service and maintenance records spanning several decades.

Minor imperfections in the paint and brightwork do not detract from the overall appearance of this car.

If a great looking and fun to drive cruiser that is ready to enjoy is what you desire, this sporty Corvair Spyder convertible is the car for you!
