Classic Car Facts

What is it about the second generation of Corvette Stingrays that make them so enticing?  Is it their sculpted lines?  Their rakish, low stance?  The growl of their aggressive powerplants?  Perhaps, most simply, it is their ability to make the admirer’s heart skip a beat without even thinking.

This gorgeous 1964 Corvette Stingray convertible is finished in Riverside Red and features a White soft top that is in excellent condition.  The finish has a beautiful luster that is further accentuated by chrome and brightwork that is also shows nicely.  You’ll also appreciate its aftermarket knock-off wheels, which contribute to its gorgeous presentation.  Newer radial tires afford comfortable cruising.

The contrasting Black interior provides plenty of eye appeal, and features bucket seats and a center console that are in excellent condition.  Its full complement of factory gauges will keep you informed about what’s going on under the hood, and its factory AM radio lends an authentic touch.

Under the hood you’ll find a recently rebuilt 365 horsepower 327 CID V-8 from a 1965 Corvette mated to a rebuilt Muncie 4-speed manual transmissionRebuilt 40 over and featuring several performance upgrades, the engine now generates approximately 385 horsepower.  Contributing to its bump in horsepower are the following performance enhancements:

  • Roller cam
  • Flowed cylinder heads
  • Lightweight flywheel
  • Polished aluminum high-flow water pump
  • Holley 650 4 barrel carburetor
  • Heavy duty timing chain
  • 80 lb. oil pump
  • Electronic ignition
  • Aluminized chambered dual exhaust
  • Hurst shifter
  • 3.08 posi rear end

With only 20,000 since being rebuilt, this Corvette runs and drives as well as it looks.

The beneficiary of an older frame-off restoration, this car’s finish was completely stripped prior to repainting.  In addition, the front and rear suspension were updated with new components when the car was restored, and the brakes were more recently redone.

One item of note is that the finish exhibits some minor imperfections, given time and use, that do not detract from the overall appearance of this car.  In addition, the clock works, but does not keep accurate time.  It should also be noted that the left headlamp does not work automatically on occasion.

If a gorgeous second generation Corvette that is ready to cruise is what you desire, look no further than this sporty 1964 Stingray convertible!
