The Chevrolet Impala convertible was General Motor’s top selling convertible in 1966, and it was not without reason.  With 38,000 Impala convertibles sold, its clean lines and impressive performance proved popular with American consumers.

Finished in eye-catching Red Metallic, this Super Sport-badged 1966 Impala convertible features matching bucket seats and a center console.  Other features of this well-equipped car include power windowspower antennapower brakespower steering and an AM/FM stereo.  Its newer paint has a mirror-like luster that is further enhanced by its tasteful use of exterior chrome and brightwork that is in very good condition.  A contrasting newer White power convertible topAmerican Racing chrome wheels, and a new set of T-3 headlamps complete the look.

The interior also shows as new, having benefited from a complete professional restoration that was completed in 2013.  The carpetingdoor panels, and seat covers were replaced at that time with the highest quality correct interior items from Hubbard’s Impala Parts of Burlington, North Carolina.  In addition, wiring, including the wiring harness and junction block, was also updated at that time, as were the dash, console, engine, rear lamp, forward lamp, and courtesy lamp harnesses.  This car also benefits from a refurbished correct AM/FM stereo, and new front and rear speakers.

Under the hood you will find a 327 CID V-8 mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission.  The car runs and drives as well as it looks.  Further enhancing the driving experience are new tires, an updated front suspension and drilled and slotted power front disc brakes.  Its dual exhaust system adds a satisfying note.  The car also benefits from a newer starter.  Other updates made in 2013 include the following:

  • Radiator core support & bushings
  • New battery cables
  • Front and rear shocks and springs
  • Ground strap kit
  • A-frame flaps
  • Bumper kit
  • New Firewall wiring gutter
  • New Molded hood blanket
  • New windshield wiper arms and blades
  • New heater and radiator hoses
  • Radiator and heater core cleaned/flushed/flow checked/pressure tested

One item of note is that the speedometer and gas gauge needles have a tendency to “float.” In addition, the keys for the locking glove box and center console bin are no longer with the car.  Although the car shows approximately 28,000 miles, total mileage is unknown.

The most recent owner has enjoyed this car for the past three years, always ensuring that it was properly stored and maintained.  A brand new Titanium Plus indoor/outdoor car cover will also be included with sale.

If a well-equipped convertible with plenty of eye appeal is what you desire, this 1966 Impala is for you!
