Iconic 1st generation Mustang convertible … Dark Blue Metallic exterior … Blue interior … 289 CID V-8 … Hurst 4 speed … Dual exhaust … Rally Pac …

Although there have been several generations of Mustangs since the first generation, it will always be those that were produced from 1964 – 1966 that are most remembered.  And it was not without reason that these Mustangs have become an American icon—with their sporty styling and abundant options, they were the right car for the right time for a whole generation of Americans, and their popular appeal endures to this day.

This gorgeous 1966 Mustang is finished in Dark Blue Metallic and features a new white convertible top.  Its finish has a beautiful luster, and its two-tone light and dark blue interior coordinates handsomely with its exterior.  The seats, dashboard, door panels, and carpeting are all in excellent condition, and are virtually free of wear.

Under the hood is its original 289 CID V-8 with a 4-barrel Holley carburetor, which is mated to an optional T-10 4 speed with Hurst Competition Plus Shifter.  Both the engine and transmission were completely rebuilt approximately 2,500 miles ago.  This classic also features a dual exhaust system, further enhancing its performance.

This stunning Mustang is also equipped with several other optional features that will contribute to your enjoyment, including the following:

  • Power convertible top
  • Engine dress up kit
  • Interior Décor Group, including wood grained steering wheel, dashboard & sports console
  • Pony floor mats
  • Rally Pac instrumentation
  • Chrome Rally wheels
  • Chrome door sill plates
  • Chrome luggage rack

All options work as they should, with the exception of horn and clock.  Also of note is that this car was originally equipped with factory air conditioning which is no longer installed in the car.  The air conditioning equipment will need to be rebuilt, but will be included with sale, as will the original valve covers, wire wheel hubcaps with spinners, and radio.  Other items of note are that although the bumpers were rechromed at the time of restoration, there is some minor pitting on the exterior door handles and interior chrome trim.  In addition, minor imperfections in the paint do not detract from the overall appearance of the car.

Originally a Southern car, the most recent owner of this classic has owned it since 1980.  A complete professional cosmetic and mechanical restoration was undertaken on it from 1980 – 1983, and as noted above, it has only been driven approximately 2,500 miles since its restoration was completed.  Detailed restoration and maintenance records and photographs from its restoration will be provided with sale.  This car has been regularly maintained through the years and been properly stored in a climate controlled garage.  More recent updates include new shocks, brakes, master cylinder, wheel cylinders, and exhaust system.  Having only 84,000 original miles, it will delight for many years to come.

Be next to let your heart skip a beat behind the wheel of this pony!
