Classic Car Facts

The Ford Mustang was one of the most popular cars produced in the 1960s, and it was not without reason.  Sporty styling, excellent performance, a comfortable ride—and an attractive price—proved just the ticket with a whole generation of American car buyers.  60 years after its introduction, the iconic Mustang’s pull is just as strong.

This fully restored 1968 Ford Mustang is finished in its original color of Tahoe Turquoise Metallic and features sporty Black GT accent stripes.  Its newer base coat/clear coat finish is further accentuated by chrome and brightwork that is in very good condition.  Chrome-tipped dual exhaust and newer rally wheels wrapped with Cooper Cobra raised white letter tires complete the package.

The interior of this 2-family-owned Mustang is equally pleasing, with vinyl seats finished in 2-tone Light and Dark Aqua.  The dashboard, instrumentation, door panels, and headliner show beautifully.  You will also appreciate its optional power steering and upgraded power front disc brakes, providing an even more satisfying driving experience.  An upgraded AM/FM stereo and speakers provide excellent sound quality.

Under the hood you will find a highly detailed compartment featuring the original rebuilt C-code 289 CID V-8 with an upgraded C8 intake and Holley 4-barrel carburetor.  1968 was a changeover year, and the car has its original early 302 block (casting number “C8AE-6015B” and dated “7.L.16”) which was bored .30 over when the engine was rebuilt.  Its C4 SelectShift Cruise-O-Matic three speed automatic transmission was also rebuilt, and is mated to a 2.79:1 rear-end.  The engine and transmission have less than 15,000 miles since being professionally rebuilt.  This Mustang runs and drives as well as it looks.

This car’s full professional restoration was undertaken by the original owner’s son, who purchased the car from his mother in 1970.  The restoration was by Vintage Mustangs of Decatur, Georgia, during which virtually no part of the car’s mechanicals and cosmetics was left untouched.  Work undertaken included the following:

  • Complete stripping of all metal and base coat/clear coat refinishing in original color
  • New chrome
  • New rubber moldings
  • New seat cushions and upholstery
  • New carpets
  • New rear springs, shocks, bushings and lower control arms
  • New heater core
  • New radiator
  • New Voltage regulator
  • New master cylinder
  • New axle and pinion seals
  • Fuel tank
  • Upgrade to front disc brakes with full dual line
  • Upgrade to Holley Performance 4-barrel carburetor/manifold
  • Upgrade to aluminized dual exhaust
  • Upgrade to 1” front sway bar
  • Factory air conditioning upgrade to R134-a
  • Engine rebuilt including new pistons, rings, main and rod bearings, camshaft, rocker arm assembly with tappets, timing sprocket, oil pump, engine mounts and water pump (completed by Riverside Ford of Macon, Georgia)
  • Transmission rebuilt (completed by Master Transmission of Macon, Georgia)

A full binder of receipts related to the car’s restoration and history will be provided to the next owner of this car.

This Mustang was originally purchased from Ernest G. Beaudry Ford of Atlanta, Georgia.  The original owner sold it to her son in 1970, and he owned the car until 2015 when it was purchased by the most recent owner.  Lovers of originality will appreciate its dealer invoice copy, original owner’s manual and original Ownercard.  A custom car cover will also be included with sale.

If a get in and go Mustang with a meticulous restoration is what you desire, this is the pony for you!
