In 1999, Buick Motor Division discontinued its production of the Riviera, a car that had revolutionized the full size personal luxury car market since its introduction in 1963.  But in 1974, the Riviera was still the flagship of the entire Buick fleet—a car that was the envy of its competitors because of its luxurious appointments, powerful performance, and stately presence.  For those who sought even further distinction among Riviera buyers in 1974, the extremely rare Riviera GS satisfied with optional handling upgrades and a full dual exhaust system.

This all original and extremely well equipped 1974 Buick Riviera GS has traveled under 43,000 miles in its 36 year life, and is a car that has been lovingly maintained through the years.  Its original Gold Mist finish still shimmers, and is further enhanced by a contrasting White pinstripes and a White Landau top that is in excellent condition.  Highlighting this classic’s beautiful colors and lines is an abundance of quality chrome and bright-work this car wears like jewelry, all the way down to its rocker moldings and beautifully sculpted Buick Rally wheels.

The interior of this classic is finished in a coordinating full Saddle vinyl interior, and is virtually in showroom condition, from the headliner, seats, door panels, wood grain rimmed steering wheel, and dashboard down to the carpeting and factory Buick floor mats.  Even the driver’s seat is free of any wear and looks like new.  All power options, including the 6-way power driver’s seat, power windows, power locks, speed alert, and power antenna work as they should.  Even the air conditioning is ice cold!

One item of note is that the clock does not currently work.  Additionally, as the car still bears its original paint, there are some very minor imperfections such as small chips and door dings that do not detract from the overall appearance of the car.  In addition, there is some minor pitting on the chrome tail lamp bezels, but all other chrome, including bumpers, rocker moldings, door handles and wheels, is in excellent condition.

This car was originally sold from Toth Buick of Berea, Ohio.  After the original owner passed away, his daughter sold the car to the most recent owner in 2003, at which time it had approximately 40,000 miles.  Its clear Ohio title properly reflects the car’s mileage as “Actual.”  Since his acquisition, the car has been carefully maintained and driven sparingly, always being properly stored indoors.  Owner’s manuals and other available paperwork and maintenance records will be provided to the next owner of this car.
