ONE OWNER!

“Once again—for 1978—Newport’s beautiful and distinctive Chrysler styling and fine full-sized features make it an automobile worth owning at any price … Full-size elegance, performance, ride and comfort … all comfortably priced!  That’s Newport for ’78 … ”

With Chrysler’s downsizing on the horizon, full-sized Chryslers such as the New Yorker and Newport would never again be as generous of proportion as in 1978.  These models would be significantly downsized in 1979, and the Newport would be discontinued entirely at the end of the 1981 model year.  It was the end of an era …

This stunning one-owner 1978 Chrysler Newport has just 43,300 original miles, and has been lovingly cared for.  Purchased from Spitzer Chrysler of Akron, Ohio in March 1978, this car served as the couple’s “vacation car” for many years and several pleasant trips to the southern shore beaches.  Having always been garage kept, it has never seen a winter and always received the best of care.

Finished in eye-catching Jasmine Yellow, this Newport’s original finish has a beautiful luster that is further accentuated by chrome and brightwork that is in excellent condition.  Lending further distinction are its coordinating Gold dual tape stripes and vinyl roof, which is in like-new condition.  Its prominent grille and optional premium wheel covers provide luxurious styling cues that are unmistakable.  You’ll also appreciate its handsome wide whitewall all-season tires.

The all-original interior of this car is in excellent condition, featuring a Gold vinyl split bench seat with a fold down center armrest.  The heavily padded dashboard and rear package tray are devoid of imperfection.  Its durable Gold loop pile carpeting has been protected its whole life by period vinyl floor mats and the original paper mats provided by the dealer at delivery, which aficionados of originality will appreciate.  Its original AM/FM stereo and optional air conditioning will also add to your driving pleasure, although the air conditioning blows cold but not ice cold.

Under the hood you will find the original 400 CID V-8 mated to the original Torque-flite automatic transmission.  This powerful, yet unobtrusive, powertrain is virtually silent from the interior of the car.  Its highly-engineered torsion bar front suspension provides the best of both worlds—isolation from the harshness of the road, yet excellent stability and road sense.  Its power steering and power brakes will have you firmly in control at the helm.

One item of note is that the windshield wipers are not currently working.  In addition, minor imperfections in the original finish do not detract from the overall appearance of this car.  Included with sale is the original owner’s manual.

If a low mileage late 1970s full-bodied original Chrysler of excellent quality is what you desire, look no further than this gorgeous 1978 Newport.
