Mercedes-Benz’s W123 line of cars has the distinction of being the company’s most successful model ever produced.  With 6.7 million cars generated over its ten year production run, the 300 CD Turbo Diesel was among them.  Its success was not undeserved; with its superior build quality and bullet-proof diesel engines, these cars were worthy of Mercedes’ claim that they were “engineered like no other car in the world.”

Given their legendary reputation for reliability and longevity of service, it is not uncommon to find examples with a quarter million miles or more in the market today, but what we have here is a rarity–a meticulously maintained 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300 CD with less than 75,000 original miles.  Finished in Champagne Metallic with a complementing Palomino leather interior, this car’s finish has a beautiful luster.  The chrome and bright-work is also in excellent condition, a testament to the care this car has received through the years.

The interior of this 300 CD tells a similar story.  Its rich leather seats—a rare option in these cars—gives the cabin a pleasing scent and a feeling of luxury.  Also exuding luxury is its genuine wood trim—completely free of cracks or delamination of finish.   Similarly, the dashboard is devoid of any cracks.  The door panels, carpeting and headliner are also virtually free of wear.

Originally sold in Greeley, Colorado, this car was subsequently owned by an older couple that resided in England and wintered in Florida, where they kept the car for use when in the States.  Brought to Ohio in 2011, it has continued to be properly stored indoors, and has received the best of care.
