Classic Car Facts

77,000 original miles … Euro spec model … Black exterior … Tan leather interior … Hardtop … 5.0 liter V-8 … Fuel injected .. 2 owners …

There is something very engaging about Mercedes-Benz’s SL roadsters from the 1970s and 1980s that make you want to get in, put the top down, and drive—particularly when they’re in a color combination as attractive as this 1984 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL roadster.

Finished in lustrous Black with a newer Black convertible top, this roadster also features a Black hardtop that is excellent condition.  Complementing the exterior is its Tan leather interior which features an optional fold down rear seat.  Genuine wood further enhances the appearance of the dashboard and center console, resulting is a cabin that is both sumptuous and comfortable.

This car features all of the power and convenience items one would expect in a top-of-the-line Mercedes, including the following:

  • Power windows
  • Power door locks
  • Power passenger side mirror
  • Power antenna
  • Rear window defroster
  • Cruise control

Also contributing to your driving pleasure is a newer Panasonic AM/FM stereo with CD player.  All power options work as they should, with the exception of the air conditioning.

Powered by its original 5.0 liter V-8 and 4-speed automatic transmission, this 2-owner car has only 77,000 original miles and runs and drives as well as it looks.  Not available to the US market through Mercedes-Benz, the Euro-spec 500 SL was a “gray market” import, and has the distinction of being the fastest production SL in its 18 year production run.  Generating 240 HP and 296 lb-ft of torque, the 500 SL outperformed even the larger displacement 560 SL of the late 1980s, with 0 – 60 MPH times of 7.4 seconds.

The most recent owner purchased this car from friends of the family and has owned it for the last six years, using it as an occasional pleasure car.  More recent updates include newer tires and paint.  The finish exhibits minor imperfections that do not detract from the overall appearance of the car.

If a low mileage roadster in a stunning color combination is what you desire, this 500 SL is for you.
