42,400 ORIGINAL MILES

One of the most distinctive convertibles of the 1970s and 1980s was Mercedes-Benz’s celebrated SL roadster.  Testament to its popularity among the discerning was its long production run; it appeared virtually unchanged over an impressive 18-year span.  Unlike its American contemporaries with their yearly trim shuffles and regular redesigns, the SL seemed to beg the question, “Why change, when you’ve gotten it right the first time?”

Sporty and elegant, this 1988 Mercedes Benz 560SL is finished in eye-catching Signal Red with a matching hard top and a Black soft top.  Its chrome bumpers, dual exhaust, and distinctive alloy wheels complete the look.

Finished in Black leather, the original interior is elegant and refined.  Genuine wood accents on the dashboard and center console lend an air of richness.  The interior exhibits only minimal wear.  You’ll also appreciate this roadster’s many comfort and convenience items, including the following:

  • Power windows
  • Power steering
  • Power four-wheel disc brakes
  • Central locking system
  • Cruise control
  • Electrically heated rear window (hardtop)
  • Automatic antenna
  • Quartz chromometer
  • Becker Grand Prix Electronic AM/FM stereo with cassette
  • Fog lamps
  • Climate control

All power options work as they should with the exception of the stereo and climate control.  In addition, the windshield washer fluid sensor signals empty when full.

Powered by a fuel injected 5.6 liter V-8 engine and four-speed automatic transmission, this grand tourer has power and smoothness that contribute to a very satisfying driving experience—long hallmarks of Mercedes-Benz’s engineering heritage.  This powertrain has long been sought out among collectors, making the late-1980s SLs some of the most desirable of its series, particularly when they have as few miles as this one.  Having just 42,400 original miles, this car runs and drives as well as it looks.

Remarkably, this Mercedes has had just one owner since 1990, when the current owner’s husband purchased it for her as a birthday present.  Driven sparingly only on nice days, this car has always been kept indoors and has always been dealer- and professionally serviced.

Imperfections in the finish and brightwork do not detract from the overall appearance of this car.  In addition, there is some cloudiness to the rear window on the convertible top.

If a highly desirable, low mileage roadster in a stunning color combination is what you desire, this iconic 1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SL is the one for you.
