Classic Car Facts

The Porsche 968 was quite a car.  Introduced in 1992 as the successor to the 944, Porsche boasted that “fully 80% of the car was new.”  With revolutionary upgrades to its powertrain, valve timing system, and engine management electronics, it was the most powerful naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine up to that time.  Just 667 cabriolets were produced in 1992 for the North American market, making this car quite rare.

One of 100 968s finished in optional Amazon Green Metallic, this 1992 Porsche 968 Cabriolet’s color is striking.  Its fully lined Black power convertible top coordinates nicely with its finish, and its aerodynamic lines look contemporary, even by today’s standards.  The front end features an integrated spoiler and sporty fog lamps, and the rear end features a wing and underbody spoiler, helping to keep you firmly planted on the road.  Cup design cast alloy wheels with optional Porsche crest rim caps complete the look.

The interior of this cabriolet is equally sporty, featuring bucket seats in Classic Grey leather and a convenient center console, keeping everything right at your fingertips.  Comfort and convenience features abound, including the following:

  • Central locking and alarm system
  • Automatic climate control
  • Power windows/mirrors/seats
  • Automatic speed control
  • Stereo sound system with six speakers
  • Heated mirrors/washer nozzles
  • Full analog gauges with warning light protection system

With its abundance of convenience features, you will not be lacking for creature comforts in the cabin of this cabriolet.

Under the hood you will find the second-largest 4-cylinder engine ever to power a production car—Porsche’s legendary 3.0 liter inline four—capable of a 157 mile per hour top speed.  Mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, this cabriolet generates an impressive 236 horsepower and 225 ft-lb of torque, launching you to 60 miles per hour in under 6.5 seconds.  Mechanical specs include the following:

  • VarioCam variable valve timing system
  • Resonant induction system
  • DME engine management system
  • Force sensitive power steering
  • Power vented disc brakes with ABS
  • Front & rear stabilizer bars

In addition, you will appreciate its optional limited slip differential—a $895 option that is extremely rare on cabriolets.  Having just 55,900 original miles, this 968 runs and drives as well as it looks.

This Porsche was original sold from Stoddard Imported Cars, Inc. of Willougby, Ohio and was maintained there, as well as at Fred Baker Porsche Audi of Bedford, Ohio, and Steinel’s Autowerks, Inc. of Twinsburg, Ohio—the premier and most trusted Porsche-exclusive maintenance, track preparation, and restoration shop in northern Ohio.  A maintenance log and receipts will be included with sale.  Also included is the original owner’s manual and a photocopy of the original window sticker.

If an extremely rare 968 cabriolet in a stunning color combination is what you desire, this is the one for you!
